Chris Jordan Julian Edward

Band Profile

Frenzy Mono's origins date back to Chris and Jordan's (at the time on guitar and bass respectively) musical endeavors in the late 1990s while the guys where attending school at the technical institute. Chris and Jordan had been jamming for quite some time at the latter's garage in Mellieha, exploring their budding song-writing skills and sharing a common passion for heavy rock, 70s oriented music.

In an attempt to bolster their line-up, the guys started a search for a permanent drummer. This was proving to be quite a daunting task until 2001 when Edward, one of Chris and Jordan's class-mates, was recruited within the band's fold. Edward immediately gelled with the guys and his enrollment fulfilled Chris and Jordan's dream of a powerhouse drummer who possessed analogous musical tastes and a commitment to the band. Soon after Edward's recruitment to the band, Julian (Chris's brother), an experienced keyboard player, was invited to jam and check the band out at their newly refurbished rehearsal place. This was fitted with all the necessary requirements with the indispensable help of Jordan's uncle Arthur and of a handful of close school mates and friends including Mario ‘Reget' Caruana. Julian's enthusiasm and flowing keyboard hooks left a strong impression on the rest of the crew and his recruitment was the next natural step for the band. As the months rolled by, the bond between Chris, Jordan, Edward and Julian became stronger.

Two crucial elements, however, remained elusive – the much-needed vocalist, and a name for the band. While jamming a Zeppelin song, throwing all inhibitions to the wind, Jordan grabbed the nearest microphone and started singing. Jordan's mastery of the legendary Robert Plant's vocal lines was so impressive that the guys had no hesitation to ask Jordan to take up singing duties. Upon Chris' suggestion, Julian assumed responsibilities for bass playing on his keyboards, much like the seminal Doors ( Morrison, Manzarek, Krieger, Densmore) line-up.

Opting for the moniker FRENZY MONO (reflecting the band's unorthodox set-up and unflinching commitment to playing loud, keyboard driven 70s style music), and guided by the promotional and managerial acumen James Gauci and the undisputed musical genius of the celebrated New Cuorey guitarist Joe S. Grech (Chris and Julian's father), the band have built a strong reputation as one of Malta's hottest and most entertaining properties in the live music scene. Combining energy, passion and experimentation with tightness, FRENZY MONO shows are indeed experiences to relish for any heavy rock fan. The band is now also proud to launch its first professionally recorded full-length album titled “Unorthodox”. Recorded at Temple Studios, with Malta's sound engineering guru David Vella at the helm, “Unorthodox” brings you all that fans have come to expect from FRENZY MONO, that is, passionate heavy rock music that is indeed not easily to come by in today's world of hip but forgettable music fashion trends. Unlike the latter, FRENZY MONO and their 70s inspired heavy rock are here to stay!
